Admissions

After reading this Prospectus, you may wish to discuss certain issues with us. Our other publications, including policy statements and the Governors’ Annual Report to parents, are all available from the Head’s Secretary, on request. We are always delighted to welcome visitors to St Birinus, and you may be sure that there will always be someone available to see you.

To ensure that a place is reserved for your son at St Birinus School, it is important to follow these procedures:

  • If your son is under the age of 11, complete the Secondary School Preference Card in November prior to his entry in the following September.
  • Give the Card to your son’s Primary School Headteacher or send it direct to:
    The Admissions Officer
    Education Department
    Macclesfield House
    New Road
    Oxford 0X1 1NA.
  • If your son is over the age of 11, write to the Head at St Birinus School to inform him of your choice.
  • When a place has been confirmed, the school will contact parents to inform them of the arrangements which have been made.

Appeals

As St Birinus is the only single sex school for boys in Oxfordshire LEA, we are in a strong position to offer a place to all those parents who would like their sons to be educated here. As a specialist Technology College, demand for places will be high. If, however, your son is not allocated a place, parents have a legal right to appeal to Oxfordshire LEA.
