History is the version of past events that people have decided to agree upon.
Napoleon Bonaparte, Emperor of France

At St Birinus School, all students study History at Key Stage three and then can opt to study the subject at GCSE. We also offer the subject at AS/A2 where students from Didcot Sixth Forms can choose from the two different courses on offer between ourselves and our colleagues at Didcot Girls' School.

In recent years the History department has become increasingly successful. At GCSE our results have been in line with national averages for both A* - C and A*- G rates, while we are above the national average when it comes to the attainment of boys. We have also increased the A* - C rate every year for the last 4 years. In Key Stage 5 we have also performed better than the national average at both AS and A2.

Who controls the past controls the future. Who controls the present controls the past.
George Orwell, 1984
